MKB Juristen drafts custom legal documents
It is best not to cobble together or copy important contracts, terms and conditions, and other legal documents yourself. We help entrepreneurs on a budget with customized legal solutions, clear costs upfront, and practical explanations.
- Custom contracts, terms and conditions, and legal documents
- Budget-friendly and clear about the costs upfront
- Request a free consultation or a no-obligation quote
Having a BOVIB mediation agreement drafted by a specialized lawyer typically costs between 750 and 2,500 euros, depending on whether it concerns pure mediation or intervention involving a complete hiring chain. Expect a turnaround time of one to two weeks, the majority of which is spent requesting details on your revenue model and payment flows. Below is an outline of what you get for that amount, how the process unfolds, and what drives up the price.
The short answer
- Pure mediation: 750 to 1,250 euros for a document that you can reuse for every placement.
- Intervention: 1,500 to 2,500 euros, because you then need two related contracts plus general terms and conditions.
- Verification of a submitted model: 350 to 750 euros, with a note regarding the points you need to change.
- Lead time: one to two weeks with a normal schedule, faster with a concrete placement ready.
- What it determines: division of roles, fee structure, candidate protection, debtor risk, and liability.
Have a Bovib brokerage agreement drawn up: what is included in the price
A fixed price comes with a fixed delivery package. Ask about this in the quotation, as the differences between providers lie there and not in the hourly rate. A complete process typically includes:
- An intake interview in which your revenue model, payment streams, and typical assignments are discussed.
- The contract itself, with the definition of roles, the fee, candidate protection, and the implementation agreements.
- Upon intervention, a second agreement with the professional that follows on from the first, so that there are no gaps in the chain.
- General terms and conditions or an appendix containing processing agreements for personal data.
- One round of corrections and an explanation of the provisions that you must complete yourself for each assignment.
What is usually not included: negotiation with the counterparty, adjustment to the purchasing terms of a major client, or a tax assessment of your structure. These components are quoted separately or performed on an hourly basis.
The process step by step
The process consists of four phases.
- Intake. This is where the most time can be saved or lost. The core question is whether you are mediating within the meaning of Art. 7:425 of the Dutch Civil Code, or whether you are working through intermediation and are part of the chain yourself. Additionally: do you retain a margin on the hourly rate, do you pay the professional, and do you work with other intermediaries in the same chain?
- Draft. You will receive a first version including the division of roles, the fee with the due date (Art. 7:426 BW), transparency regarding any potential personal interest (Art. 7:417 and 7:418 BW), candidate protection, time accounting, and limitation of liability.
- Correction round. You test the draft against an ongoing or recent placement. This works better than an abstract read-through, because you immediately see which fields you need to fill in for each assignment.
- Delivery. You will receive an editable file with fillable fields, plus instructions. Save this as a template and adjust only the job-specific parts per placement.
For a concrete placement that needs to start in the short term, it can be faster. In that case, please provide the following during the intake: the rate, the margin, the desired duration, the notice period, and any purchasing conditions of the client.
What causes the price to go up
Four factors explain virtually the entire difference between 750 and 2,500 euros:
- Chain length. In the case of intervention, and certainly in a chain with multiple intermediaries, the contracts must align. A gap between two links means that you pay the difference.
- Payment flows. If you pay the professional before the client pays, a payment continuation clause and a suspension arrangement are required. In the case of hiring, the hirer's liability for payroll taxes and VAT under Article 34 of the Collection Act 1990 also plays a role, for which a G-account is used.
- Waadi obligations. If you actually make workers available, the registration obligation of Art. 7a Waadi and the prohibition on hindering employment of Art. 9 Waadi apply. The takeover clause must be carefully aligned with these.
- Classification of the employment relationship. Since the Deliveroo ruling of March 24, 2023, the Supreme Court assesses all circumstances in conjunction, including integration within the organization and entrepreneurship. The Tax and Customs Administration no longer assesses new model agreements and has resumed enforcement against bogus self-employment since January 1, 2025. Anyone wishing to record agreements regarding this between intermediary and client requires an additional article on responsibility and indemnification.
Practical example: a staffing agency with four regular clients had a single placement agreement drawn up for 1,100 euros and used it for eighteen placements over two years. The only adjustment per placement was in the appendix containing the rate, duration, and assignment description. Per placement, this amounts to approximately 60 euros in legal costs.
Do it yourself, buy a model, or have one drawn up
A free template from the internet is useful as a starting point, but rarely as a final product. The standard templates are based on pure mediation, whereas most intermediaries work with the intervention of third parties. Furthermore, the transparency provisions regarding the margin, alignment with the Waadi, and a workable arrangement for debtor risk are almost always missing.
A paid template from a document shop costs 50 to 200 euros and is reasonable if you act as an intermediary with a fixed fee per placement. Once you are in the payment chain, customization is cheaper than the first time a template turns out not to cover what you need. If you are only having an existing template checked, ask for a note with concrete text suggestions instead of a general assessment.
Honest recommendation
You don't always need a lawyer for this. If you handle a single placement per year, with a fixed fee, without a margin on the hourly rate and without passing on payments, a good template plus half an hour of proofreading yourself is sufficient. The same applies if you have a client with their own purchasing terms that fully regulate the division of roles and payment: in that case, you only need to check whether the fee and candidate protection are correct.
Make sure to have it drafted as soon as placement is your revenue model. The document will then pay for itself at the first dispute regarding a professional acquired, an unpaid final invoice, or a renewal for which no agreement was made. Always request a fixed price with a revision round, and have the legal expert review the draft against an actual placement rather than a hypothetical scenario.

Frequently Asked Questions
For pure mediation, the cost is typically 750 to 1,250 euros. If you work with an intermediary, two interconnected contracts are required, and the amount ranges between 1,500 and 2,500 euros. Having only a submitted template checked usually costs 350 to 750 euros.
One to two weeks with a normal schedule: intake, draft, revision round, and delivery. If a concrete placement is ready, it can be done within a few working days, provided you immediately supply the rate, margin, duration, and any purchasing conditions.
When acting as an intermediary, you conclude two agreements that must be interconnected, and you yourself are part of the payment chain. This entails a payment continuation and suspension arrangement, attention to the hirer's liability under Article 34 of the Collection Act 1990, and a takeover clause that complies with Article 9 of the Waadi.
As a starting point, yes. However, standard models are based on pure mediation, often lack the transparency provision regarding the margin (Art. 7:418 BW), and do not address debtor risk. As soon as you forward payments to the professional, customization is cheaper than the initial dispute.
In the event of a change in your revenue model or payment flows, and furthermore when the rules regarding the assessment of employment relationships change. This has happened several times in recent years. A brief annual check on the fee, takeover, and liability provisions is sufficient.
The Tax and Customs Administration no longer assesses new model agreements and has resumed enforcement against bogus self-employment since January 1, 2025. The decisive factor is how the work is actually performed. Therefore, specify in the mediation agreement who is responsible for the practical execution.
